Moving House: Where My Bank Account Goes to Die πŸ₯²πŸ’Έ

Guess what, everyone? I'm finally moving. It's still up in the air whether it's temporary or permanent, but my current place needs some serious TLC (we're talking major reno, time consuming, cost and way beyond my DIY skills!). So, with my tenant moving out of my other house, it felt like the perfect time to make the leap.

Papan-papan perabot flat-pack dan manual arahan di atas lantai mozek.

The best part? It's only 8km away, so not a huge trek. The not-so-fun part? All. The. Packing. Aduhai~ but on the bright side, I've already tossed a huge bag of "sampah" and a ton of clothes I haven't worn in ages. More decluttering to come, for sure!

What I'm really excited about is the idea of a new home. Think blank canvas, starting completely from scratch. My vision? Minimalist, Scandi-style vibes all the way (and lots of plants! πŸͺ΄). I've already bought a fridge, washing machine, bedding, and some bookshelves. The kitchen countertop, sink, pipe are paid for (yay!), and now I'm on the hunt for a TV and air-con that won't break the bank.

Speaking of budgets, my Coway reps called yesterday about my near-ending water purifier subscription. They offered a discount on an air-con and mattress – and wow, everything is so expensive!

Here's their offer:

AIR-CON 1.0 (5-Year Contract):
First 18 months: RM80/month
After 18 months: RM90/month

PRIME LITE MATTRESS:
First 18 months: RM34/month
After 18 months: RM44/month

Total for the air-con would be RM5,220, and the mattress RM2,460. That's a hefty chunk of change eh, especially since I still need a TV!

I spotted a Samsung 55” Smart TV at TanRadio for RM1,699, which seems like a great deal. But I'm still weighing my options because:
  1. We don't actually watch much TV; everyone's usually glued to their laptops/tab for entertainment.
  2. A Smart TV means I'll need internet, which I'll get for my CCTV system anyway. But should I commit now? Is the speed comparable to Unifi? I'm worried about buffering. Kelembapan internet boleh mendatangkan kemarahan ya Tuan-Puan. Plus, it's a 2-year contract, and honestly, I'm trying to avoid more commitments right now. Maybe Njoi is a better fit? It's RM384, one-time payment, and no strings attached – super simple.
For the kids, their mattress and bedding are already sorted, along with their furniture. Small kitchen appliances and other bits will have to wait until after the contractor finishes the countertop. Don't want everything covered in dust. So, next week is all about getting that countertop done.

Here’s my growing "New Home Essentials" checklist:
  1. TV (still debating!)
  2. Njoi
  3. Internet (looking at Celcom Digi/Maxis for flexibility)
  4. Air-con (the Coway offer is tempting but pricey!)
  5. Water heater
  6. Find mosaic for kitchen countertop (this weekend's mission!)
  7. IC for Adam (Sunday's top priority!)
  8. CCTV
  9. Iron
  10. Iron Board
  11. Food Processor or Blender
  12. Stand Fan
  13. TV Cabinet (IKEA or Shopee, perhaps?)
  14. Follow up with SWM for the rubbish bin
  15. Two lidded rubbish bins (saw a good one at Lotus)
  16. Diningware
  17. Wall clock
  18. Cloth Hangers
  19. 4x minimalist stools (or chair for dining)
  20. Laundry basket and laundry net
  21. Dish rack (Mr. DIY has options!)
  22. Baldi (Lotus, here I come!)
  23. Kitchen counter storage and accessories
  24. Two solar lights for the backyard
  25. Plant (nice-to-have)
  26. Oven/Microwave
  27. To be continued
Fuh~ nampak macam nak pindah terus and so much to do and to buy ek? But I seriously can't wait to move into this "new" home! Should find sugar daddy la nampaknya. Dulu ada penyewa, now have to pay for both house. Bapak gula, sponsor please πŸ₯²
