Our New Home: 2 Weeks In!

Can you believe it? We've officially been in our "new" home for two weeks now, and it truly feels like home. Most of our stuff is finally in its right spot, and everything feels surprisingly neat and tidy. Even though we're still zipping back and forth a bit between the two houses, the biggest part of the move is all done.

Funny thing is, I didn't actually have a ton of my own things to move – just my favorite books and clothes, really. I literally bought a bunch of new furniture and appliances, especially for the kitchen.

There's just one little thing still missing from our setup: a good place for my baju kurung and work outfits. I've got less than 20 pieces, I think, but the hanging bar in the new closet isn't strong enough for them – I'm only using it to hang my tudung for now. I'm thinking about getting either a simple clothes rack that stands on its own, or maybe one that attaches to the wall to save floor space. And of course, a shoe rack is on my wish list too.

As you can probably guess from all the new stuff, this month has been quite the spending spree. So, my big goal for the next few months is to save as much money as possible – it's time to get super smart with our spending.

The boys are absolutely loving their new home and are so happy. At first, I thought about putting all 4 of them in the master bedroom. But after really thinking it through (and maybe imagining a few squabbles), I decided it was best for them to have their own shared rooms: Iman and Fateh in one room, and Yusuf with Adam in another. This way, they each get their own little corner.

Our old house was definitely bigger, but honestly, this new place feels so much more spacious. Even Ayah said the same thing when he visited last weekend. I truly think it's because of our simple furniture choices and the lighter colors we picked, just like we planned. It really makes the rooms feel open and airy.

And remember how I mentioned all that kitchen spending? Well, let me tell you, it was worth every single cents. We're talking a brand new stove, oven, air fryer, toaster and I even treated myself to a complete set of pots and pans – they're absolutely gorgeous.

With a public holiday tomorrow, our plan is simple: stay home all day! We're looking forward to some home cooking, enjoying yummy meals, lazy-ing aroud, and, of course, a Netflix movie marathon. Pure happiness!
