Next Weekend Giliran Iman: Kita Belajar Buat Roti Sama-Sama!

I’ve just signed up for the bread-making course next week. Just yesterday, I was talking about how I strictly reserve my weekends for my family, but I also really wanted to attend this course. Then this idea hit me; why don't I just bring one of my kids along? So, when the organizer called this morning, I immediately registered and paid the fee for two. This time, I’m bringing Iman. We are definitely going to have fun together.

Don't get me wrong. It’s not that the other kids don't need my time. I chose Iman because, among my 4 boys, he seems to be the one longing for some focused, one-on-one sesh the most right now.

Adil tu bukan sama rata, right?

My core concept is: I am not going to treat my kids all the same because they aren't the same. Instead, I will treat them all fairly, which means everyone gets exactly what they need, precisely when they need it.

At the end of the day, this bread course isn't about perfectly kneaded dough or even a new blog post idea. It’s a deliberate effort to hit pause and be fully present for one of my boys. Every step does feel calculated—a careful allocation of limited time, energy, and love—but that’s just a mom's job. We plan the time, mitigate the guilt, and pray for the best outcome: a precious, flour-covered memory.

Okay, looks like I need to buy a new small apron for Iman. Pray for me; us.

  1. Agree kak. Adil itu bukan samarata. Tapi memberikan apa yg sesuai untuk masing2. Tak kan anak yg tak suka membaca kita belikan banyak buku.

Baguuusnya ada yg tertarik untuk belajar buat roti yaa. Tapi tak gampang lah ini. walau papa saya pengusaha bakery shops di Medan, sampai sekarang saya tak bisa buat roti sendiri 🀣

  5. this is such a lovely reminder that parenting isn’t about treating kids equally, but about giving them what they individually need... Iman is lucky to have this special time with you....
